🎬 Movie Reviewer SM Influencer

Jun 08, 2023

Introduction

Who wouldn’t want to be fameous movie critic and make money by wataching enyojable content and wrting short review about it. The times are great for that as you no longer need to be anyone respectable, knowable or competent in anything related to movies, all you need is good perfoming social media with bunch of people knowing less about you and little bit of charisma, and since the cinema is easile accesible even in our homes becoming internet movie reviewer seems like interesting course of action for side job, or even maion branch carier as it comes with bunch of benfits you may not be aware about.

Benefits doesn;t only include free cinema tickets, but all the perks of being internet influencer with personal brand: dontaions, high conversion, sponsorships

Strategy

So how do we actually become popular in such niche, which is quite saturated btw but not exactly on red side. Main SM for such thing would be YouTube of course, leveraged by mesh social media strategy and review sites. Creation of materials usually goes in such order : Text Review → Video → Short Video Text: Twitter, Facebook, Personal website, IMDb, Reddit Video: YouTube, Twitter Short: YouTube, TikTok, Reels, Twitter

Hub

1st tier: should be obviously your personal website, but it’s quite hard to make people stick on such for period, nobody follows dedicated sites or uses RSS anymore. 2nd tier: YouTube and Twitter 3rd: Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, 4th: IMDb, Reddit

Content

Reviews are obviously not the only thing you should include in your channel, but they should be main content as they are easiest to create, thus that they position greatly on effort/reward spectrum.

Relativity

There should be no surprise when I told you that covering most fresh and hot titles is rather and better strategy than some underdog ’70s Romanian cinema. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t approach booth, but as the recognizable title will generate cliks on it’s own, that if you going to cover some niche title, then you will need to be a little bit more creative

Currently in cinema

So yeah just go to the cinema as fast as you can, and then create and review as fast you can Adapt to the expectations, people love reassure themselves in their rights, so create and review targeted for their desires, at least if the title itself isn’t the very opposite of that. In situation when you are getting paid for saying good things or the movie just fitted your taste, at least tailor the title + thumbnail, maybe leaving something unsaid, leaving some questions you will respond in the video itself.

Branding

It’s quite hard to make video review about yourself, but there is huge opening for interpretation, therefore pushing your own manifesto. And this is really what you should be focusing about, you need people came to your channel not for titles you review, but for you itself.

Visual brand creation

Building a somehow recognizable visual signal is quite important, putting still frame from move with riddle title might result in great CTR and excellent views, but no one will know that it was yours video, and they will most likely not click next time. Face brand – How annoying it might be, and how terrible the miniature it will, it does build brand. Humans are quite good at recognizing faces.

Sourcing

Clip source:

  • Trailers
  • Public clips
  • Making offs
  • Torrents As some people might not be ethically on side of torrenting stuff I’m afraid it’s unavoidable for clip sourcing, also you need to have access to all the movies in the world, but buying access to streaming platforms and going to cinema isn’t something you can avoid as the being relevant and making videos on hot topic, meaning movies that are just getting released is going to be your main strategy, being fast about that is the best thing you can do

While putting movie clips into your video you need to be careful about copyright strikes, but if you are not putting half a movie into a video then you should be fine.

Monetization

strategy isn’t as straight forward as with usually SM influencers, but it not something hard either.

  1. Firstly your videos should be clean of copyrights if you put some minimal effort into spoofing, so there is this sweet AdSense YouTube money
  2. Personal brand = donations nothing unusual here, just make Patron and offer some perks for paying subscribers, why paying Patreon horrendous fees while having personal/project website, well that’s because more people will be fine using something well know with working and secure ecosystem than attaching credit cards to somebody website, there are situations when decentralized / personal donation systems is better, but it isn’t this one.
  3. Sponsorships another quite obvious stuff, but you might expect not only deals from VPN scammers but also Studios interested in movie promotion, but it’s rather farther down the line, but still possible especially when you are reaching and having numbers on text written reviews. 4 Merch nothing particularly interesting here as well, you can make t-shirts and other print on demand toys, it should be centered about the movies you review and some of your quotes / moments, so you will need to do some design work and research copyrights esoecially for characters. Other stuff you could make is digital / printable designs for movie rewiev, and dropshiop fountain pens, after you convince your audience that is the only proper way to rewiev movies and write notes, PDF is digital and chinesse pens are cheap so high profit margin on that
